Home "Scentspiration" - The Best Scents for Every Room

When it comes to our homes, we strive to create a space that is welcoming and comfortable. Fragrance is an accessory that shouldn’t be missed when it comes to this goal. Not only does fragrance add depth and character to a home, it also allows you to give each room a different feel. Looking for some inspiration when it comes to choosing the perfect scent for a specific room? Check out some of our favorites below.

Kitchen

When it comes to the kitchen, citrus scents work great.  Citrus fragrances cut through unwanted kitchen smells and leave a fresh, clean aroma.  There’s a reason why so many cleaning products come in lemon scents. Apple, pear, and thyme also work well in this atmosphere.  Avoid using florals in this space as they do not mix well with food aromas.

Living Room

The living room is where most of the entertaining and time with close ones is spent, so it’s important to choose a scent that is agreeable and not too overpowering.  Think clean and comfortable. Adding lavender to your living room aroma is a great idea because of it’s relaxing and calming properties.

Office

What you smell can influence your mood, so use it to your advantage here! Rosemary has been credited with increasing productivity levels as it helps clear thinking, improves memory, and energizes the mind. Not a fan of the scent of rosemary? Try Jasmine or Peppermint. Jasmine can ease tension and nerves, while Peppermint is energizing and refreshing. In an office setting, Peppermint will aid in concentration and help to stimulate the mind.

Bathroom

While the goal is to neutralize unpleasant odors in the bathroom, less is more in this space. Avoid heavy overpowering scents, especially in smaller bathrooms. Clean, refreshing fragrances such as linen, ocean breeze, and lavender work best in this atmosphere.

Bedroom

If you struggle to fall asleep at night, you might find certain fragrances helpful. Any fragrance that incorporates lavender, chamomile, or sandalwood is a safe bet because of their abilities to promote sleep and relaxation. Avoid citrus and minty scents as they have the opposite effects. If you’re looking to create more of a romantic atmosphere, try florals such as ylang ylang, jasmine, or rose. Musk, amber, and vanilla also make good choices for the bedroom.
